При расчете объемов заимствованных средств МБРР умножают всю сумму займа на ставку процента и получают таким образом общую сумму процентных выплат. Затем отдельно суммируются все займы и все процентные выплаты. После деления первого результата на второй получают средневзвешенный процент. Он отражает единожды взвешенные расходы по заимствованию. Сравнительно недавно МБРР стал рассчитывать общую сумму процентных выплат, умножая сумму займа на ставку процента и число лет, в течение которых он выплачивается. Это дало возможность учитывать различные сроки погашения займов. Средневзвешенный процент, полученный в ходе таких вычислений, отражает дважды взвешенные расходы по заимствованию.
